I just want to make sure I am good to use the mini stamp I received from NNA. I am in Indiana and the stamp is missing the word “seal.” Both the Indiana laws and the Notary primer book for Indiana say the word “seal” is required on the stamp. I just don't want notarizations rejected if I use the mini stamp. — R.P., Indiana
Effective July 1, 2024, Public Law No. 130 (House Bill 1032) removed the word “seal” as a required element in the Indiana Notary Public’s official seal and official electronic seal.
The Indiana Notary Public Handbook issued by the Secretary of State says the same. (See page 17.)
In October, we published a revised 8th edition of the Indiana Notary Primer to reflect the new law change, but we overlooked updating the statute printed in the back of the book. That will be updated in our next printing.
