A California lawmaker who has championed raising the fees Notary can charge will be a special guest at NNA 2016’s Welcome Reception June 5 in Anaheim, California.
Assembly Member David Hadley authored Assembly Bill 2217, a proposal to raise the maximum fee Notaries in California may charge from $10 to $15 per notarization. Thanks to support for the bill from hundreds of California Notaries, AB 2217 was fast-tracked through committee and was passed by the state Assembly and is now before the state Senate.
Hadley, who represents Southern California’s 66th Assembly District, will be speaking during the Reception about efforts to raise the fees Notaries may charge. Several states, including California, have proposed increasing Notary fees this year. Kentucky recently enacted a new law to allow Notaries to set their own fees for notarizations.
The NNA 2016 Welcome Reception will take place from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. June 5 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim. Notaries can take advantage of lower registration prices through May 31.
