Congratulations go out to LaQuita Gaskins of Radcliff, Kentucky, who was named the National Notary Association’s 2015 Notary of the Year at the Gala Banquet in Orlando, Florida, on June 2.
Gaskins epitomizes the ideal of helping others. She served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, which is when she first became a Notary. During that time, she helped troops with important documents, such as powers of attorney, and became the go-to person on base for anyone who needed a notarization.
After leaving the military, she became a Notary signing agent and co-founded the non-profit organization Shiloh City of Peace, which helps the homeless and less fortunate get back on their feet. She turned over several of her homes to be used as shelters where clients find a safe haven and can stay as long as they need.
Gaskins also mentors signing agents in a number of other states and is dedicated to education and constant improvement. She possesses master’s degrees in mental health counseling and education, and is pursuing a doctorate degree.
