Ohio Notaries do not have the authority to solemnize nuptials unless they are also ministers. Only Notaries commissioned in Maine, South Carolina and Florida are empowered to perform marriages strictly by virtue of holding a notarial commission.
However, it is sometimes possible to apply for temporary or full-time authority to officiate weddings through some state or county agencies or religious organizations without requiring a Notary commission. You may wish to contact organizations in your area to find out if you can be authorized to officiate weddings in a non-notarial capacity.
