West Coast Cities Lead In Demand For Healthcare Workers In Q2 2012

Demand for healthcare workers grew fastest in West Coast cities in the second quarter of 2012, according to data published by Health Workforce Solutions LLC (HWS), a leading healthcare research firm.

The HWS Labor Market Pulse Index numbers released July 13 reported the strongest near-term demand for healthcare workers in the cities of San Jose, California and Portland, Oregon. Lowest demand was in the cities of Cleveland, Ohio; Las Vegas, Nevada and New York City, New York.

Though unusually high numbers of layoffs were reported in the first quarter of the year, a wider recovery nationwide for the healthcare labor market throughout the remainder of 2012 was forecast by David Cherner, Managing Partner of Health Workforce Solutions LLC.
