Can I accept an out-of-state driver's license? — T. S., Colorado

Yes, you may accept a driver’s license from another state if it is current or expired by not more than one year before the performance of the notarial act (CRS 24-21-507[2][a][i]).

For information on rules for signer ID in other states, please see our Notary guidelines for accepting or rejecting a signer’s ID.

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors
