How should Signing Agents upload loan documents while on assignment?

How do you handle uploading loan documents in the field for a loan signing assignment?  Is it ok to wait until I'm back by my scanner to upload?E. P., Florida

It all depends upon the unique variables you are working with, along with the expectations of your contracting company. Many Signing Agents perform their ‘scan back’ uploads from their home office before they ship the documents to the closing agent. Some might perform their uploads while out in the field, when they can’t make it back to the home office before shipping the documents or are working under a tight deadline, for example. Be sure to discuss the matter with the contracting party to understand their expectations before deciding what your practice will be.

Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own state statutes. – The Editors
