The intent of the book is to help Notaries perform their duties to a professional standard that best serves the parties involved in the transaction.
As a Professor of Law Emeritus at the John Marshall Law School, Michael Closen is a respected educator and one of the nation’s leading legal scholars on notarization. His legal career spans 4 decades, during which time he was a practicing attorney, a prosecutor in the Cook County, Illinois, State Attorney’s office as well as a law professor.
Closen has served as an expert witness in many Notary-related cases throughout the U.S. and also has been a Notary Public for more than 20 years. In addition, he served on the drafting committees for the 1998 Notary Public Code of Professional Responsibility, and several versions of the Model Notary Act. He was honored by the NNA with its March Fong Eu Achievement Award in 1998 and with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
Professor Closen will be speaking at NNA 2018 in Las Vegas, and his book will be available for purchase and autographs.
