The National Notary Association’s Bill Anderson, Vice President of Legislative Affairs, was a featured speaker at the Montana Secretary of State’s 2014 Notary Conference last week.
He gave two presentations during the event, held April 4 and 5 in Helena, Montana: one on regulations facing the lending and banking industries; and a second providing an overview of what a Notary signing agent does.
During the presentation on lender regulations, Anderson was joined via video conference by Shirley Chiu, an enforcement attorney with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, who noted that signing agents would be considered third-party service providers under the agency’s guidelines. In addition to Anderson, three past NNA Notaries of the Year also were featured speakers: Carol Salter, 2005; Daniel Lewis, 2010; and Chrissey Ladd, 2011.
Michael Lewis is Managing Editor of member publications for the National Notary Association.
