The Pennsylvania Department of State is now accepting online applications for Notary commissions, a move that streamlines the commissioning process for state officials, and allows commissions to be granted quicker and more efficiently.
“The new system will allow the applicant to complete the application, submit it, and obtain the necessary endorsement from the applicant’s state senator all electronically, saving staff time and taxpayer money,” said Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele.
The online application form is available at the Department of State’s website and can be used by either new applicants or current Notaries renewing their commissions. Paper applications are still being accepted to accommodate applicants who do not have internet access.
Pennsylvania joins a growing number of states offering paperless commission application processes, including Iowa, Delaware, Minnesota and Texas.
