The National Notary Association will host a 60-minute virtual seminar this month — titled “Navigating Notary Financial Liability” — which will provide Notaries with the information they need to reduce risks and protect themselves against lawsuits.
The session — offered at no charge to NNA members — will examine the types of notarial acts and surrounding circumstances that can result in claims against the Notary, a bond or errors & omissions policies. It will also cover how court cases typically unfold and how they are awarded, what steps Notaries can take to protect themselves against such claims, and issues concerning statutes of limitations on claims.
The virtual seminar will be held on Thursday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. PT and will be presented by Bill Anderson, the NNA’s Vice President of Best Practices and eNotarization and Richard Busch, surety attorney for Merchants Bonding Co.
This informative session comes on the heels of the National Notary Association’s 33rdAnnual Conference, which was themed “Managing Risks in Today’s World” and focused heavily on educating Notaries on how to reduce risks and liability in their own notarial practices.
