MN House File 232 - House File 232 requires an individual signing a document as attorney in fact for a principal to identify him or herself as attorney in fact in the signature line by writing the signature substantially in the form provided in the statute.

TX Senate Bill 651 - Senate Bill 651 clarifies that a medical power of attorney may either be acknowledged before a Notary Public or signed in the presence of two unofficial witnesses.

OR House Bill 2833 - Oregon enacts the Uniform Unsworn Foreign Declarations Act (UUFDA). The UUFDA permits a person living or traveling outside of the U.S. who must sign a sworn statement to make the statement under penalty of perjury without having to appear before a Notary or U.S. consular officer to take an oath or affirmation. This new law does not apply to certain sensitive documents, including depositions, recordable instruments and attested affidavits to a last will and testament.

TX House Bill 2918 - HB 2918 makes modifications to the statutory durable power of attorney from, which must be acknowledged before a Notary. HB 2918 now provides an instruction to the attorney in fact for how the attorney in fact should identify him- or herself when signing a document as attorney in fact. The attorney in fact is instructed to disclose his or her identity by signing the document in the following manner: “(Principal’s Name) by (Your Signature) as Agent (or as Attorney in Fact).”

CA Assembly Bill 464 - AB 464 amends Civil Code Section 1188 to remove the contradiction between Section 1188 and 1189(a)(1) and requires Notaries to use the proof of execution by subscribing witness certificate exactly in the form prescribed by Civil Code Section 1195.
