The Utah Legislative Drafting Manual requires a drafter to use gender-neutral pronouns and remove improper uses of gender-specific terms in the existing code. Senate Bill 79 modifies over 400 sections of the Utah Code Annotated to modify gender-specific language and to make other technical and conforming changes in line with Utah’s legislative drafting standards. Among the changes are non-substantive amendments to UCA 57-2-13 which contains the notarial certificate for a proof by subscribing witness, and two sections contained in Utah’s Recognition of Acknowledgments Act.
