AnalysisHouse Bill 1247 allows two Notaries to administer an official oath to certain public officers. It is noteworthy that two Notaries are required to administer an official oath to military officers above the rank of field officers and to all other officers appointed by the Governor and Council. The oath to these officials may be administered by other oath-administering officials, but in all cases two such oath-administering officials are required for the proper administration of the oath. The statute also allows this particular official oath to be administered by a justice of the peace and one Notary.
