Affects

Makes technical, clarifying and other modifications to the current North Carolina operations and capital improvements appropriations acts.

Changes
  1. Eliminates funding for 1 full-time Notary investigator in the Secretary of State’s office.
Analysis

Due to budgetary shortfalls, the General Assembly of North Carolina acted to eliminate funding for one full-time Notary investigator in the Department of the Secretary of State’s office. While the funding for this position was eliminated, the position had not yet been filled, so no one actually lost a job. However, given that North Carolina rigorously investigates incidents of Notary misconduct, the lost funding for this position will set back future investigative efforts.
