Analysis

Senate Bill 1525 is this year’s annual maintenance of the California Codes bill that is sponsored by the Office of Legislative Counsel. This annual bill’s purpose is to make nonsubstantive changes to various Code sections. In the case of the Notary statutes that are amended, the amendments conform the language of the various sections to the style. For example, in Government Code 8214.1(q), the words “of the Government Code” were removed since they are redundant because the sections listed before it are in the same Code as Section 8214.1 that was amended. It should be noted that Sections 8231.8 and 8231.18 are in the online notarization statutes that are not operational yet.
