What to know when applying to become a Louisiana Notary Public

  • Don’t let your commission get suspended! Non-attorney Notaries who do not file proof of a new or renewed surety bond or E&O policy every 5 years will be suspended. The Secretary of State can reinstate your commission when you file a new bond or insurance policy.
  • How to file your bond or insurance with the state. You can submit your bond or insurance policy and $20 filing fee to the Secretary of State online, or send it by mail along with a check or money order in the amount of $20 to: Secretary of State, P.O. Box 94125, Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9125.
