Your Alabama Notary Surety Bond

Alabama law requires all Notaries to purchase and maintain a $50,000 Notary surety bond for the duration of their 4-year commission. The Notary bond protects the public of Alabama against any financial loss due to improper conduct by an Alabama Notary. The bond is NOT insurance protection for Alabama Notaries.

Do I need anything besides my bond?

You can purchase your Alabama Notary bond on its own or as part of an NNA Notary package. Processing your Alabama bond

Processing your Alabama Notary Surety Bond varies depending on the county in which you reside. In Baldwin, Geneva, Macon and Mobile counties - bonds are processed after receiving your commission letter. In all other counties, your bond is mailed to you immediately, but no sooner than 120 days prior to your current expiration date. Once you receive your bond in the mail, take your notarized bond to your Office of the Probate Judge for filing
