What to know when renewing your Pennsylvania Notary commission.

  • Finalize your application. Once you’ve completed your training, visit the Secretary of State’s website to submit your online Notary application along with your training certificate of completion.
  • No exam is required. Pennsylvania does not require renewing Notaries to complete an exam.
  • Renew with enough time. You can begin the renewal process 6 months before your current commission expires.
  • A Pennsylvania Notary commission term is 4 years. You are appointed and commissioned by the Pennsylvania Secretary of State, not the National Notary Association.
