WA Administrative Rules (2022)

Rule/Regulation

State: Washington

Effective: November 22, 2022

Summary
A new Washington rule increases the fee for both a Notary and renewal Notary commission.
Affects
Amends Section 308-30-060 of the Washington Administrative Code.
Changes
  1. Raises the fee for an application for a Notary Public commission from $30 to $40.
  2. Raises the fee for an application for a renewal Notary Public commission from $30 to $42.
  3. Eliminates the prior $15 fee for obtaining a duplicate certificate of commission, including a name change.
  4. Establishes a $5 license print fee.
Analysis

Notary Public application fees in Washington state were due for an increase, having stayed at the current levels for years. Therefore, an increase of the fees for a Notary and renewal Notary commission was necessary to defray the costs of administering the Notary Public license program.
