SummarySenate Bill 8 waives the requirement that the renewal application of a Notary or Electronic Notary must be sworn before an officer authorized to administer oaths under certain conditions, as specified.

Changes

AnalysisUnder existing law, all applicants for a Notary or Electronic Notary commission must have their application notarized prior to submitting to the Secretary of State. Senate Bill 8 waives the requirement for renewal applicants provided the applicant is in good standing as a Notary or Electronic Notary at the time of application, is not subject to any investigation or legal proceeding, or has never been removed from office as a Notary.
