Analysis
Senate Bill 1187 is a COVID-19 measure that extends Notary commissions that have expired during the pandemic and extends the authorization to perform remote ink-signed notarizations (RIN). Senate Bill 1187 was necessary because a previous bill, House Bill 6297, had extended these authorizations through December 31, 2020. Thus, SB 1187 extends Notary commissions that have from March 1, 2020, and will expire through June 30, 2021, to June 30, 2021. RINs are also authorized through that time.
