Analysis

Under current law a remote online notarial act is deemed to be executed in any parish of this state where any party is physically located at the time of the remote online notarization. If no party is physically located in Louisiana at the time of the remote online notarization, the remote online notarial act is deemed to be executed in the parish where the Notary Public is physically located at the time of the remote online notarization. The new law changes this, provides that a remote online notarial act is deemed to be executed in the parish where the Notary Public is physically located at the time of the remote online notarization, and requires the Notary to have jurisdiction in the parish of execution in order for the act to be executed.
