Mortgage Bankers Chairman Robert Story To Deliver Opening Keynote Address At The NNA’s Conference In Chicago

The National Notary Association announced today that Robert E. Story Jr., the Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association, will present the Opening Keynote Address at the NNA’s 32nd Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago June 1417.

As the U.S. continues its gradual emergence from recession, Story will discuss the Notary’s vital role in supporting industry’s need to sustain progressive lending activities and trustworthy transactions while combating mortgage fraud and identity crimes. His address, “Thoughts and Strategies for Boosting America’s Economic Growth” will focus on the dynamic relationship between mortgage banking, the Notary and other important contributors.

“A strong partnership between the mortgage industry and the nation’s Notaries is essential to our economic outlook, so we are pleased that America’s leader and chief advocate for the real estate finance industry will offer his guidance to Notaries,” said NNA President Milt Valera. Delegates, state officials, industry leaders, legal experts, and dignitaries from more than 40 states and several foreign countries will receive his much anticipated address.

Story’s analysis comes amid much concern and speculation over the strength of the real estate industry as the primary driver of the nation’s economic recovery. As America’s trusted impartial witnesses, Notaries are heavily relied upon by the mortgage, banking and real estate industries, and their education and training make it essential to maintain professional standards of practice and procedure.

“Whether you are among the hundreds of thousands of Notaries employed by financial services firms, or a specially trained and certified Notary Signing Agent, Story’s remarks will underscore how professional standards of practice for all Notaries are vital to our recovering economy,” Valera said.

Story serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Seattle Financial Group, the parent company of Seattle Mortgage, Seattle Bank, Seattle Insurance Group, Seattle Capital and Seattle Escrow — a conglomerate founded in 1944. A graduate of the University of Washington, he has managed all aspects of residential loan production, construction lending and commercial loan brokerage and was instrumental in Seattle Financial Group's diversification over the last decade. Story also oversaw the development of the company's reverse mortgage division, which grew to become the nation’s third largest originator of reverse mortgages prior to its acquisition by Bank of America in 2007.

The NNA’s 2010 Conference will be held June 1417 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Please visit for more information or to register.
