Hotline Tip: Is The Signer's Presence Necessary For Me To Complete The Notarization?

If I have already recorded the signer’s signature, thumbprint, identification, and document information in my journal, am I required to affix the Notary seal or stamp in the signer’s presence, or can I complete this part of the notarization later? – M.E., Boulder, CO

All parts of the notarization process should always take place in the presence of your signer, including completing the notarial certificate and affixing your official Notary seal impression.
