How to Become an Immigrant Assistance Service Provider in New York
Immigrant assistance is defined by the state as providing any form of assistance, in the city of New York, for a fee or other compensation, to persons or their representatives who have come or plan to come to the United States from a foreign country, in relation to any proceeding, filing or action affecting the non-immigrant, immigrant or citizenship status of a person.
To be an Immigrant Assistance Service Provider, New York law requires that you:
- Post a $50,000 bond payable to the city of New York.
- Execute a written contract with clients itemizing services provided.
- Post the following signs at their place of business:
- Non-Attorney Disclosure Sign
- Fee Schedule & Cancellation Policy Sign
- Consumer Complaint Sign
- Surety Disclosure Sign
