Did you know that more than one third of U.S. Notaries work in the banking, finance and mortgage industries? If you ever wondered how you stack up against other Notaries, check out more statistics in our latest infographic.
Our data shows that there is approximately 1 Notary per 71 residents of the United States! Surprisingly, there are three times as many women employed as Notaries as men. Our data also shows that the majority of Notaries are in their 40s and have completed more than a high school education.
We are proud to say that the overwhelming majority of Notaries have completed a variety of Notary educational programs, state-mandated or not. This includes seminars and training classes similar to the ones the NNA hosts. To find additional training resources in your state, please visit our training section on our website.
Notaries work in a variety of industries, and you can see the breakdown of employers in our infographic. While the majority of Notaries work in the mortgage and finance industry, many are employed in a legal profession, while others work in healthcare, manufacturing and more. Compare the number of commissioned Notaries to other popular workforces like teachers, lawyers, and physicians – and you can see that Notaries surpass them all!
The most surprising part of our data is that 30% of all Notaries have been asked to perform an illegal or improper act. It is up to us as Notaries to continue to educate those around us – consumers, employers, clients, and more – of our vital role in the U.S. Economy.
